Your Role & Our Responsibilities

Mobile Veterinary CT operates as an extension of your practice – we provide the advanced imaging technology while your clinic maintains complete patient care.

Your team will: determine sedation protocols, supply all sedation medications, and provide a technician to monitor the patient throughout the one-hour appointment. We require the attending veterinarian to be on-call during the procedure and recommend participating in the 15-20 minute scanning process to ensure optimal image capture.

Our service includes: contrast media, emergency medications, anesthesia, and monitoring equipment. Within 24-48 hours, you’ll receive a detailed radiology report. Please note: MVCT does not assume medical responsibility – all treatment decisions and patient care remain with the referring veterinarian.

What's Included in a Mobile Veterinary CT Scan?

A CT scan uses X-rays to create detailed 3D images of your patient’s body, revealing more than traditional X-rays can show. This non-invasive technology helps you precisely diagnose tumors, fractures, and internal conditions quickly. Mobile Veterinary CT delivers this advanced imaging directly to your office, providing convenient access to specialized diagnostics.

How Do I Schedule an Appointment?

If you are a veterinary clinic, click here or call 612-655-4809 to schedule an appointment. Please provide your clinic name, address, phone number & email address. Have your patient’s name, signalment, brief history/reason for a CT and if the patient has any metal implants ready to provide. Have your patient’s record ready as well for additional notes. You will receive an email confirming the date and time that the CT truck will arrive at your clinic.

Patient prep prior to arrival of CT truck

  • All dogs and cats must have an IV catheter placed before they enter the truck. If your patient will be receiving contrast, place the largest IV catheter possible.
  • The host clinic veterinarian determines the sedation or anesthetic protocol, which can be discussed with the CT veterinarian beforehand.
  • While head and limb CTs can be performed under sedation, chest and abdominal CTs require full anesthesia.
  • Contrast studies also require anesthesia, and patients receiving contrast must be well-hydrated prior to the CT truck’s arrival.
  • The CT truck comes equipped with isoflurane, oxygen, patient monitoring equipment, and emergency medications. Click here to review our Clinic Checklist prior to the CT truck’s arrival.

When the CT truck arrives

  • The host clinic technician and/or veterinarian will assist in bringing the patient to the CT truck.
  • For the hour-long appointment, the host clinic’s veterinarian is required to be on-call for emergencies.
  • Non-ambulatory patients can be transported via gurney (provided by CT truck).
  • Host clinic staff are responsible for sedation or induction/intubation, which may occur before or after entering the truck.
  • The host clinic technician will assist with patient positioning and monitoring.
  • The CT scan typically takes an hour.
  • If sedation doesn’t keep the patient sufficiently still, additional sedation and/or anesthesia may be necessary.
  • While the CT veterinarian reviews images with the host clinic veterinarian in the truck’s viewing area, the host clinic technician will monitor the patient’s recovery.
